Anyone know how to stop unsolicited faxes?

Posted by: Blueknowz on 20 March 2014

I have tried emailing the addresses which supposedly stop them being sent but they keep coming. We need the fax machine for my wifes clients who do not have computers! The annoying thing we put a new cartridge in the fax and it churned out that much crap it ran out of ink!

Used to have the  same problem when i had the business. Easy to solve.

If  i remember the product you want is called Winfax Pro,which you should be able to buy online.

In a nutshell it makes receiving faxes via you Fax machine a thing of the past. When a fax comes in it goes strait onto your computer, you view the document on your screen. Hit Print if you want the fax,or Delete if its crap. If my poor memory is correct SHMBO set the system up so that i could also send faxes via my PC.

Someone on another forum suggested this!

you mentioned ink cartridges... get some black construction paper. put it in the tray. call the number back and proceed to fax them a dozen sheets of nothing but black paper. A girl who used to work for me said her mom's office had a similar problem. Did just that (she claimed they actually LOOPED sheets of paper for a perpetual overnight fax) ... drained their cartridges. Messages received loud and clear .

What's a fax?

This *did* work for us many years ago, and we get very occasional faxes now, instead of dozens per day.

Maybe worth the effort.

It took about two weeks to start lessening, but the effect was very useful.

Not sure just how effective it could be now, but I have to re-register every year.

This is never going to work because they will be using Winfax Pro

A fax? Short for facsimile. I think it is actually both an analog-to-digital converter as well as a digital-to-analog converter. All wrapped up in one neat machine. Quite the time saver when I began my career in the late 80s.

(I know you guys know what it is

I think there may also be a Fax Preference Service (just like the Telephone Preference Service) that you can register with.  That might kill some of the traffic.

I turned mine off in 1998 and I have never received any since.
