Posted by: juboy27 on 22 March 2014

Hi I have a naim 180 power with 72 high cap. And epos 11. I have been reading a lot on here about streaming, so I have just got a USB musical Fidelity v link box with optical pluged in to my mac book pro, am going to try the Mac mini as some one suggested. I have a stack load of CDs I am going to spend a lot of time ripping on to my synology nas To stream. I have max cd ripping software on my mac and going to rip in wav for best Quality. then I select wav there is so many options. Can any one shed some light on this as to what the best quality settings to use. Also am open to other peoples suggestions.

thanks.

Greetings.

I'm not quite sure how you're playing your music.  What is plugged into your 72?

So you're just using the nas as a networked storage device -- not as a music server.

If you're going to keep using a Mac and iTunes to play music, you might think about ripping to Apple Lossless instead of wav.  iTunes will be pretty happy with Apple Lossless.

Best advice would be to ditch Max and use xld instead.  Max was last updated in 2009 whereas xld is current and regularly updated.

Yes I am going to keep with the mac. I have tried iTunes but also have been using audirvana software and the deface is incredible between iTunes and audirvana, audirvana  been better.
