Db poweramp problem

Posted by: JohnL on 01 April 2014

Hi, computer made a strange sound on boot up and since then, when I open dB poweamp, I get the screen but cannot access it (circle spinning, "not responding" showing). When I looked in configuration settings, there's a thin red line across part of the icon which I don't think was there before. Anyone got any ideas as to what may be causing this problem ? PC running windows 7. Any help gratefully received

Have you manually ejected the CD drive on the PC. Sometimes a Cd left in that also has enhanced content can upset PC booting. Otherwise it's not something I've personally come across, dBpwr + winXp user here...

The obvious is to shut down the PC and then fire it back up again and see if the problem's still there. If it is, and the drive is empty, uninstall DB Poweramp and then reinstall. Better still, download revo from revo.com to do the uninstall, as it's way more thorough than the standard uninstall. If all that doesn't work - but the PC seems generally ok - then I'm stumped.

Thanks all. I've tried the off/on business (I'm VERY non computer !!) so will have a look at dB installation. Just a thought, do you think there's any value in the "restore" route, ie taking my computer back to before this fault occured ?, I'm hopeless with downloads and always end up withn stuff in the wrong places, not recognising stuff etc etc. Many thanks for your help

Ask dbpoweramp directly. they are very responsive in my experience.

I would simply try re-installing dbpoweramp over the top.

I would uninstall it first, then reinstall. If that doesnt work you may have a registry error from the failed installation. It's hard to make a reco without seeing the kit, but what I would probably do if it were mine is download revo (freeware) and use that to do a deep uninstall before trying again.

If that fails, or anyway, you should call DBPoweramp. If they can't assist you then unless you want to try a registry fixer yourself you should probably take it to an IT expert.

Thanks all, been in touch with dB who are being very helpful hampered only by my chronic lack of knowledge of computers (if only I had 2 grand spare for a 'Serve !!). I will report back.

Many thanks
