Favourite internet radio stations

Tony how are you getting 320K ? What compression or not system is that using?
Best I've seen on the RP website is 192K MP3 on Octoshape, I'm using 128k ACC and it sounds great.
The 320k feed is simply shown in the Naim-recommended channel list of my Superuniti. I've not looked into it via any other means.
Bartok Radio, Budapest is great. Apparently 320, but drops sometimes
Funny - both Bartok Radio and Linn Classical are playing Beethoven's 7th. Linn is playing Budapest Festival Orchestra performance, Bartok is playing Berlin Radio Philharmonic....
The 320k feed is simply shown in the Naim-recommended channel list of my Superuniti. I've not looked into it via any other means.
I see that now, I ain't buying a NAIM digital box just to listen to an upgraded iradio station.
RP at 128 ACC sounds good enough for me.
Nobody seems to have mentioned Birdsong Radio... just birdsong, very relaxing first thing in the morning, but also works all day long as a background. (recommended for townfolk, probably not for rural folks).
It's often asked 'do you listen to live music', and 'does your hifi sound like the real thing?' For those of us who don't get to live gigs these days, here's something most of us can compare to the real thing.
Although it may not be of interest to many here for it's in french, I thought I could recommend to give a try to Couleur3.
Couleur3 is a public radio from the french part of Switzerland. It all started 30 years ago as an experiment for a new program devoted to a "younger" audience, and it's still alive and well as we grew older together ! Probably one of the most idiosyncratic public program you could think of. They were giving free reigns at the time, and they took advantage of it I can assure you ! Even though they're a bit quieter than they used to be, it's still a very good radio with "non commercial" music (mainly pop/rock/electronica, but sharp specialized programs as well). And no commercials (except some fake ones) !
A lot of fun in the morning with satyric sketches, "micro-trottoirs" (don't know the word in English), history of music genres, scientific phenomena, everything with humour and wit, although it's probably too local to be funny to other french-speaking listeners, I don't know. Note that it's not at all in the usual "french" way (sorry guys ).
Mainly music in the afternoon.
But it's in the evening and during the week-end that things start to become really interesting with specialized programs about specific music genres, cinema, video games, comics, books. Métissages is an 20 years-old classic and is all about groove, old or new. Downtown Boogie means hip hop time. Karakoukass shouts the metal gospel. Chinese Theater explores classic movies one at a time. And so on.
But their masterpiece -- and the one reason you should give it a try I think -- is La planète bleue. It's a very special program and nothing like I ever came across. It's a strange blend of music (say world and old electronic music and expand from here), critics of movies, comics, or books, scientific and political comments (deeply rooted in everything green, and more than happy to polemicize). I guess it's a kind of love/hate thing, but they always come with very interesting things, and especially in music (what other program would devote time to Jon Hassell, Mickey Hart, Ashra Tempel, the music of the Arab Spring, Studio One, Jaki Liebezeit, Fela, etc.). To me they're all what is right about a properly edited content, as opposed to the pseudo freedom to browse and consume content everywhere on the Internet (I like that too). The program is live on Saturday night at 6 PM, with a second airing Sunday at noon. They also have a website with all the music references.
Couleur3 is available on vTuner as 128K MP3, and many podcasts are available on iTunes. You can check the website for the programs schedule, and they have an app (iPhone/Android) as well.
Hope it will be of interest to some music lovers here and that you'll enjoy it. Let me know what you think.
ATB and a sunny Sunday to all (-10 °C here)

PS: I am NOT affiliated to them in any way, but I wouldn't feel ashamed if I was.
Swiss Jazz is great - no ads and no DJ's - great for background music. Linn is ok but tends to repeat and is also prone to drop-out. Also Swiss Classical if that's your preference.
NRJ Lounge (paris) - No talk just lounge.
Never disappointed me. Quality is good enough 128kbps

Luis,
Good recommendation for NRJ. I tuned in for the first time last night and was immediately greeted by Portishead - Glory Box - excellent.
Another vote for Radio Swiss Jazz:

it's 128Kb, great music, sounds very good even in my main system.
+1 for KEXP.org - new/progressive with several niche shows. My favorite is "Shake the Shack" a goofy rockabilly show on Friday evenings (GMT-8). Larry's Lounge is a great source for new tunes. They let you stream anything from the last two weeks but that requires a browser so may not be accessible from the dedicated devices.
Also KPLU.org for Jazz and npr.
Both commercial-free, listener supported.
It's a niche, of course, but I love New York's Q2. It plays only contemporary classical music. One of a kind, I believe.

'Nostalgie' is really really crap.....and yet great at the same time. Reminds me of last years cold and rainy summer holiday in France! G
Could we please add KXT to the "favourites" list?
I use it several times a day here at snorg!
it's under North America>US>Texas>Public>KXT
Thanks!
Hi,
hope my posting finds everyone well. I listenend to Sky FM channels and finally upgraded to Sky Premium. Cost: 50 USD p.y. Excellent quality at a reasonable price. I strongly recommend to check it out. Best regards from Germany!
Radio Paradise is sublime and can be streamed at 320 from the Naim Radio Guide pages (There is also another way, the method is published on Malcolm Stewards website and isn't too hard.
Another favourite is Deeper Into Music, wonderfully eclectic both of them and rather expensive as I am constantly ordering CD's as a result of 'tuning' in!
Daunt,I agree with you,Radio Paradise is costing me a fortune in cds by the artists who they play on the station.
I also find it a pain in the butt having to constantly look at the playlist,to check the name of the artist!
Very clever how their playlist integrates seamlessly too?
So much brilliant new and old music out there that I never knew existed.
Hi Myron,
Could you post the URL for candlelight radio because I cant find it
This way I can manually add it
Thanks
Eric
Found it on their site
Is only 96 kbps though ...
one of my favorites is "3WK classic underground radio". They play commercial free and have tons of (to me) unknown good music. I love it.
For sheer sound quality and to hear your system at its best, AVRO Klassik and Radio Paradise are superb.
Right now I'm listening to Test Match Special on BBC Radio 4 LW streamed to my Uniti for the first time ever. Previously, I have always gotten the "Due to rights restrictions......." message. (I'm not UK based) Has the Beeb done a deal with Sky Sports? Whatever, happy days!
