Chaps,

Today marks the 20th anniversary of Kurt Cobains death. In respect to this unique musician/singer I will be listening to Nirvana most of the day. I hope you will give him some time today too

Just to add a little here.

At the time of his death, Nirvana were very respected in my group of friends and of course by many music lovers at that time. When I heard of his death, a close friend and I were sitting in my shared house in Peckham and we were shocked to say the least, quite speachless in fact, I was 24.

Anyway, it's good to hear him again.

I'm partial to a bit of Nirvana now and again so I'll fire some up today.

Since you like Nirvana have you heard Green River?

Side note I did see them at Reading (along with a million others to be fair) which turned out to be their last ever concert.

Kurt had a lot of negative press at the time and came onstage in a wheelchair, thats all I can recall, there was a delay and a rumour he wasn't going to do the gig, or was that just me and me mates?

I just read a piece on a musician who knew Kurt he says and listened to Nevermind for the first time in 20 years and how lost he felt hearing it, it just wasn't 'his' remembering of the music sounding flat and re-mastered for a neutered newer audience, as he saw it.

Green River were a grunge band from Seattle who played between 1984-1988.  The band split and some of them formed Mudhoney who have played from 1988 to the present day.

Listen to Green River and you can hear where the Seattle grunge sound originated from and seeing as you like Nirvana I'm sure you'll like Green River and Mudhoney too.

Amazing story and relationship with Michael Stipe. As a coincidence, I was listening to Unplugged in New York during the week....

Hi Jude, yep this is a little jewel and a lesson in keeping it raw.
