Controlling Naim streamers from PC / Mac?

Posted by: heihei on 07 April 2014

Is it possible to control Naim streamers from a PC / Mac in the same way it is for servers? I quite liked controlling my Unitiserve from my Mac, initially via the web-interface and more recently via the dedicated app, and would love to do the same for my NDS.

Not sure if I have misunderstood, but presumably the US app you are using is n-serve which must be on an iPod or iPad, so why not use the n-stream app For your NDS, which is excellent?

Hi Gerry,

There is an OS X version of n-Serve -- really the OS X version of the DTC.  So it's possible to control a Naim server that is directly connected to a player by using the OS X app, but it's not possible when the server is used as a networked UPnP server.

I use n-Serve on my Mac a lot to monitor rips, edit metadata if needed, check backups, etc.  But for playback, I must use iOS.  (My server is networked.)

Thanks Bart.

For my part, it's quite nice when sitting at my mac to be able to control music directly rather than having to use a separate iPad / iPhone.  QuteControl seems to work pretty well so problem solved.

This is £2.49 on the UK app store. Has it done the job?
