Do any other serve owners experiencer this - that of the Serve suddenly going offline?
My unit is used and would go offline after I bought it. The dealer that sold it to me got me a new power supply. And that it seemed to fix the problem, at least initially. But it has been around 2 months since I installed the power supply and it has gone offline about 5 times.
Just yesterday, it went offline in the middle of ripping a CD. Suddenly the pop-up window appeared and it said it was trying to connect to the Serve. When it goes offline, nothing works -- it cannot connect, it cannot eject the CD inside, it cannot shut down. Only thing is to turn it off at the back.
Would a linear power supply solve this issue?

I've certainly not experienced this. A linear ps will improve the sound and is worth it for that alone, but I don't see how it can deal with the offline issue. Setting the IP address using the Set IP Tool download is the first thing I'd try. You'll need four sets of information from the router, IP address, DNS address, subnet mask and something else. It's actually very easy to do. Make sure you set an IP above the standard range issued by the router, eg 192.168.1.120 (that's what I chose, with 110 for the SU and 140 for the NAS, which are easy to remember). How is the system connected up?

I dont think it is due to the network.
The Serve has a fixed IP address as do the NAS and the NDS. It is only the Serve that goes offline. All these are connected to a switch and the switch to the router.
Just wondering if it is the power supply again as replacing it had solved the problem the first time.

As the network is set up as described, it is therefore most unlikely to be the issue. It does seem very odd that a fault with the power supply can cause the offline behaviour, but as it clearly addresed the fault in dis's case, it could well be that.
I would order a linear supply, which will give a big boost to the sq as well as (hopefully) solving the offline issue. See my profile for the one to get.
Quite why Naim ship the £2,500 server with a piece of junk worth a fiver is beyond me. Is it really too hard to design a pukka supply in a napsc sized case?

Thanks.
Looks like I should get the linear power supply.
I hope that there isnt another problem with the Serve that causes it to go offline randomly - besides the power supply.
