It's a miracle

Today I downloaded Sabina Sciubba's new album, Toujours.
Having struggled with downloads previously, it all went perfectly, album art and everything. Good album, good sound quality in high def.
If you knew what a nightmare previous downloads had been, you'd be celebrating too!
Where'd you download it from?
I often do a lot of 'surgery' on my downloads. Some downloads put a F-ton of info into each track name, as in the entire name of the album, and the artist, and the track name, etc etc. Sometimes the Naim server doesn't like something in a track name, and so I edit manually.
Once you get the hang of it all, you'll be the (cue echo chamber) MASTER OF YOUR DOWNLOADS
It is a Naim Label record.
Naim's upnp server while 100 percent stable, has some odd ideas about tags. One especially anoying idea is that all tags that contains any artist information has to be the same. Especially with the originalArtist tag this makes Little sense, but if the originalArtist tag has information different from artist the album artist will show up as unknown.

Well done, I do know that this made you especially grumpy!
I've just signed up to HiresAudio, they have an interesting catalogue with some of the music Linn sell, but at lower prices.

The weird thing I've now discovered, thanks to Bart, who is so helpful, is that you can't schedule automatic backups from the US downloads folder to the NAS using the Naim DTC.
One has to ask - why not? I'd have thought it was pretty bleedin' obvious that people would want to do this, particularly as, unlike CDs, there is no physical backup.
I'm sure there are alternative ways, but I'd suggest that Naim need to come up with a way of copying the whole of the US's contents to the NAS automatically.
Hi Nigel,
I have the old 1TB US which schedules backups of Naim rips, but doesn't have a download folder. The backup scheduling was introduced as a software upgrade. Before that, I set up a backup schedule on the NAS. I assume that's what you do for the dowmload folder? Perhaps Naim will sort it out with a future upgrade.

Hi Keith,
The operating system for the UServe will schedule a backup for the Store, but not for the Downloads folder. You're right -- the Downloads folder was added when Naim upgraded to the 2 tb model, BUT, Naim did not add in a utility to backup the Downloads content. This has to be done separately, with backup software running on a nas or computer on the same network.
