Poundshops

We now have 5 in croydon, and things are becoming very competative. Poundland is now flogging everything @ 95P. There is an awful lot of absolute crud to be found in these places, but i find as long as you cherry pick what you buy you carn`t go far wrong.

I now use them for things like catfood/cleaning products & toiletries.

Anyone else use them and what do you think of them ?

We have dollar stores here--same sort of thing. Check expiration dates and details--the fingernail clipper may not have a cleaner attached, and the comb may scratch the bejeezus out of your scalp. Otherwise, why not?

In the days when I was heavily involved with the hospital's Christmas Panto (at various times all of the following :actor, director, stage hand, stage manager, etc etc), I used Poundland to find things like plastic fruit, vegetables etc to use as props.  After all, all (if any) profits went to charity!

The reading glasses are fine for me - just as good to use as my pair  from the optician. At that price I've got one in every jacket and every place I may need them.

Avoids some of those "senior moments".
