Help for a newcomer

Posted by: sjw98 on 16 May 2014

Hi everyone...

I'm not a newcomer to naim, having owned their kit for yonks, BUT I've just taken the plunge into streaming. I've just bought myself a Uniti which is linked up to some Wilson Benesch Curves. It sounds pretty sweet and I'm very pleased (although it's not the same as the 82/250/Hicap I've just had to sell!).

I also have a sonos play 3 in couple of rooms. I have three questions:

1. is there any nice easy way to play music to both the uniti and the sonos (synced)? It works seemlessly between the sonos of course, but I want to add the naim.

2. does anyone know whether the Muso will be able to sync up to the uniti (in which case I will dump sonos)?

3. when I look for upnp servers on the uniti, I see two or more sonos servers, but the uniti doesn't seem to be able to actually play the music from these servers... is this normal?

Sorry if all of these are obvious, but I'm in a whole new world compared to the simplicity of my 82/250.

Thanks,

steve

1. No.

2. I think this is Party Mode? I have heard that the MUSO will be able to do this. Does the Unity have this facility?

3. Yes.

Where are your files (that the Sonos picks up)?  What format are they?

They are mostly AAC files stored on my imac. I have installed a upnp server on the mac.
