Hi
I have just spent a frustrating day trying to create a playlist on my Asset. /QNAP nas. I have created a playlist in iTunes and exported it in m3u format to the playlist folder on the QNAP.
When I go into I stream and select playlist the playlist I created is there. If I select the playlist all the tracks appear correctly. So my asset configuration appears ok. However when I select play I stream says it cannot play the track. With the help of Mr Spoon I now Know why. The playlist was created from the tracks on my pc and not those on the QNAP Albeit they are the same music tracks. They do not however have the same path , hence cannot be found by the server.
The problem how do construct a custom playlist using the track files on the QNAP.
anny help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Philip

You can edit your playlist files by opening them with notepad on your PC and changing the file path. You can also load music files into foobar2000 to create playlists.
BTW I'm assuming that your PC can see the files on your QNAP in windows explorer as a mapped network drive.

Thanks sjbabbey. I tried your link and thought the problem was Solved, but it was a false hope. It does give access to the files on the qnap using windows explorer But they are on a designated drive in computer, this give them a different path to those on the qnap. The more I look into this the more rediculous it becomes. I have an old v1 netgear readynas duo on which I have one share containing my ripped CDs and one containing playlists made on iTunes and exported in m3u format to the readynas playlist share. Nstream has no problems playing these playlists. If you look at there path it goes to my music on my pc. The play without my pc being on. This uses the ready/DNA server on the readynas. I also recently some ripped music to create a playlist on iTunes which were the transferred in m3u to a USB stick to play in my car. No problems at all Playing in my why car. Why does qnap/asset not do the same. At the moment I feel I have wasted mu money on aqnap and asset .
Unless someone con convince me otherwise. just in case anyone asks why I don't use the readynas it is because ready/DNA does have other problems.
