nstream shows wrong album art

Posted by: okli on 20 February 2011

Hi,

I'm getting wrong album art if I browse through Artist / Album or Genre / Album trees. Selecting the album after that shows the correct album art (tapping the album's name in the header). Someone else experiencing this who knows the resolution?

TIA,
Ilko

Hi okli,
You can clear the image cache in n-Stream settings. This will force the app to download the images again.

Thanks TJ - after several crashes I have my correct album art images again.

Hiya

On a similar subject - I changed the cover art on the server - I replaced the Folder.jpg files with a new one.  On the same one track was using the old artwork - and one the new.  I thought it would that the old artwork was buffered in the iPad - so found this thread - and then cleared it (I used the "Clear Image Cache" in the app).

Is there something else you need to do?

Any help appreciated.

Andrew, other than clearing the control point (Nstream) cache that you have already done  depending on which uPNP server you are using you might need to tell it to rescan or look for changes in your library.

Thanks Simon

I tried that - it is a simple Iomega NAS - so not that complicated.  I log into it and did as you suggested and some of the changes became visible - so thanks for that.

Having copied the folder to another folder with a new name - it still doesn't show up - so its not a caching issue.  I reduced the image size down to 119kB .jpg as well - it was 400kB before

For the record.

One thing I just discovered - if the folder name is very long then images may fail to be shown - the streamer can see and play the music - as can the n-steam app - but it won't display the images.

Getting there - just got the why sometimes the graphics do not change for all tracks left.

Andrew, just another thought, do some of your files have images encoded in them as id3 tags. In  my experience these internal encoded images take precedence  over the folder.jpg image in the directory.

Ahhh - that might explain why when I copied the directory to a new name and didnt copy the .jpg it still showed it up.  Can you remove the image from the file - or is it a case of rip it again?

Thanks for your help

Well in MS file explorer when I right mouse click, I see a whole load of properties and one of the is remove the embedded art. Can't remember whether this is native MS, or an extension that appears when you load dBpoweramp. You might need to experiment.
