I am new to the forum.I bought got a Unity 2 , two days ago. I am trying to access my QNAP NAS drive. It sees the network and the QNAP, NAS drive; but says source error after entering the network IP address. I entered the IP address without back slash(\\). I cant find the back slash on the remote. am I being stupid?
Please Help anyone. Thank you

You are entering the ip address manually so you have not selected auto connect - I assume.
I have a UnitiLite and when I selected 'manual' and entered an ip address it left the gateway ip blank and so would not work properly. btw the gateway ip is that of the your hub that is connected to the internet. But it should be able to do upnp (I think mine did anyway), it just won't connect to the internet and will not display the time.
Why not use auto-connect and remember that when you go into tools (on the Lite anyway) it closes the network down, so exit from tools before you test anything.
'ere 'ang on I have just realised what you said. Why would you put a backslash in the ip address? or am I missing something?
Big Bill thanks ,
on the network address there is a backslash \\ like this then my IP address in numbers with period dots; i entered the network address without a back slash , it says connecting and then says 'source code error' it identifies my 2 computers and the NAS drive but wont open any of them. Same message. all of them are share enabled and my SONOS play 5's two of them works like a dream without any issues.
Am I being stupid ; what am I doing wrong?
OK I see what you mean, you see something like NAS412:\\ I guess in windows or apple?
Just don't know what 'source code' error means, well that's a lie really as source code is the program code you write before compilation to produce some sort of application but I very much doubt that this is what this error is referring to. If it is then something horrible has happened!
Without being there I can't really suggest much else, please see below, or otherwise I think you must try NAIM or your dealer support.
btw have you tried making the ip address automatic. In the Network Settings menu in the Tools menu - You get to the tools menu by hitting the spanner button on the remote.
If you are using wired select "Wireless" to Not Used or used if you do want wireless.
Set DHCP to YES - this will automatically assign an ip address to your device (something like 192.168.x.y), where x any y are integers <= 255.
Keep hitting the spanner button until you exit and it should find the time server over the internet and you should be able to get iRadio.
Good luck mate. Let us know how you get on.
Thanks Big Bill,
Yes exactly, what I see in windows 7. I will try your advice when I get home tonight. You have been of great help.

Yeah the backslash is used in windows to separate directories, so if have a directory called 'Beethoven' sitting in a directory called Music then if it's on our QNAP then we would have something like: NAS412-001:\\Music\Beethoven and that would be out pathname to the files that live in the Beethoven directory. But no backslash in an ip address, just integers 0-255 and dots as separators.
