UnitiQute2 Speakers

Posted by: Eurf on 07 June 2014

I am purchasing a UnitiQute2 next month, and wondering what speakers and interconnects would be a perfect match for this?

Initially I am going to use the Qute with Shure IEM's, while I consider which speakers to purchase.

Kef LS50's have been recommended - I listen to Hip-Hop/RnB/Soul/Pop - and like a flat realistic sound with a tight bass and the Qute will be in a small room (10ft x 9ft).

I am new to this forum, but not new to Naim - I used to own an original Qute paired with Focal Dome 2.1 and Chord Odyssey 2 Interconnects (2011).

The KEFs, PMC twenty.21, Elac (make the most of modern music), Focal Arias, lots of choice in the up to  £1500 standmount arena. Get something with good residuals if you can, avoid flashy 1st 5 minute sound speakers.

KEF R700s sound great on a UnitiLite.

I'll arrange a Demo by the dealer - especially interested in the Focal Arias - as always liked the Focal sound - thanks.

Try some Proacs if possible. I'm trading straight over my Tannoy DC6's (great for some music, late night listening but too polite otherwise) for a pair of older Proac Studio 1's and they sound really cracking. Unfortunately the re-foam job was bad on one of the drivers so they're back at the dealers getting redone. They really resting the speed of the UQ (though a 110). I'm sure the modern ones would be all the better. Have fun!

+1

I too have Guru Juniors with my Qute2. They are a fantastic speaker and very adaptable to their environment. Highly recommended..

I've heard good things about Guru - I think the look put me off in the past - but will search them out and give them an audition

I've heard the Qute with both Totem Mite and Dali Minuet ( the small one with the wood something 4" driver).

They sound incredible for their size (deep bass) and the look is brilliant whether the grills are on or off - pure 70's retro chic!!

The usual suspects from Neat sound very good to my ears. Never heard the Guru but would like to.

I bought Dynaudio X12's but did not exhaust all sub-$1500 options.  From what I did audition, the X12's did it best for me.  The Gurus are what I'd most like to hear, just based on their reputation.

+1 for the eclipse, surprised they are not more popular on here.  I have since swapped mine for Audium comp 5 which would probably suit your bass rich music (worked for me)
