For instance? Can you be a little less vague?

I'm guessing the future may hold better firmware with subsequent sq benefits.

of course improve the sound quality first.

Pretend my job is to write the firmware and you ask me to improve it, what are you going to ask for? What is wrong? What do you want more of or less of in the sound? Maybe feedback is required!

How about ability to consume services such as Qobuz, Spotify and the like without the need to use intermediary devices. All well documented in other threads.

Those things are more functionality rather than better sound.

I suspect Naim will implement some subtle tweaks to the DSP code in future releases Naim usually tweaks things through a product lifecycle.

Perhaps ripping out the DSP / DAC board and hiding a Hugo in the box might be the way to go

It concerns me, that an update could change the sound quality. I bought my kit because I like the sound at the time of purchase.  A change in quality could possibly put the rest of my system "off balance".

I hope Naim keep feature updates separate to sound quality updates !!

This is exactly what happened to my ND5. The first update, 2.16 if i can recall, totally ruined the sound and it forced me to get an XPS to get it sounding right again.

To be fair adding the XPS surpassed its original SQ so i was quite happy in the end, but i do think that these updates should be made so that they can be reverted if required.

At the end of the day you audition a device to make sure it sounds and suits your system. To have this changed by an update i think is wrong if you cant step back.

DSP updates (audio chain) and network feature updates (streaming board) are in fact separate, as is the front panel controller.
