Burning Vinyl

Posted by: Mike-B on 25 June 2014

Just returned from a great 3 week touring road trip around USA west coast & deserts.

Opening the great post pile - 95% junk - I found the Dads Day cards - all as normal with something funny or mildly taking the p###,  but one I just fell about laughing at.

"Within a few minutes of DAD getting his first iPad he'd downloaded some great music"

"Now he's trying to figure out how to burn it to VINYL"

Just so apt for a new-bee NDX owner with iPad - & the kids all still on CD.

Burning Vinyl?

When I saw the title, I thought this was going to be a 'Beatles more popular than Jesus' thread ....

.... and I'll bet there were a lot of perfectly good mono LPs in that fire

Thats a spooky coincidence joerand,  when I was in SF 2 weeks ago I bumped into a small group of beatles fans - old grey winklies - on a night out.  Drawn to my accent age & obvious charm they started asking questions about the 1960 "scene" in GB.   The subject of the more popular than Jesus thing came up & I do not recall that subject coming up in years,  now it hits me twice in 2 weeks.

They all said it was a shame & great music no matter what transcends all

(I still recon there was one or two closet album burners tho')

San Francisco. I'd have to bet those boys were burning something other than vinyl back in the 60's. Now, had your US travels taken you to the Bible Belt, you may have encountered a blasphemy thumper or two .

Hope you enjoyed your trip on America's left coast!
