I have ripped most of my cd s the music is correct but the on-line look up is blanked out I have a bt hub 5 when I took it to a friends house put it on via his talk talk modem router. it did it fine thanks
Um. You need to give a lot more detail.
but in short at home your server is not connected to the internet. Can you for instance use the radio on it?
Hi sorry for lack of info no I can not get radio either It seems that on occasions the on line look up will appear when you select it a message appears failure I have been on naim desk top which when selecting system menus internet says false what's strange is I have ripped lots of cd with no problem but the message appears with unknown artist/tracks I am very much connected but on reading forum the mention of. IP address crop up I have tried to check this on laptop and it tells me it would automatically select the IP address I have windows. Vista not sure if that's a problem or the bt hub 5 there is a setting to be changed i do not think it's the unitiserve as I mentioned taking this around to my friends house who has talk talk it works perfectly bt help desk are of very little help thanks for replying Tom
How is the serve connected to the BT hub thing at home, via ethernet cable?
If you are getting an intermittent connection then I would suggest a different ethernet cable as starter.
If you continue to get no connection then we need to understand the history of you serve, for instance if you bought it off your mate where i works then it might be set up with a fixed IP and/or different dns settings to your home hub.*
*Inevitably I will recommend you set fire to the homehub, but for now I am being cool

Assuming its wired ethernet, if not it should be for best SQ.
Nothing that wrong with the BT HH's, just so long as they just get used for just wifi'ing to laptop & iPad duties.
As a network switch they don't cut the mustard, they can be improved if the ports are managed to selected IP address's (in the advanced set up), but even so they are best not used as a switch.
My BT HH3 overheated & lost wifi after 3 albums when I tried to use it as a switch, it couldn't handle the traffic.
The simplest way round it is to connect the player & storage via ethernet thru a simple unmanaged switch like Netgear, Cisco or Lisky ( £25 €30 $40 ) & an ethernet branch off the switch to the BT HH to handle iRadio & nStream wifi.
Hi all who gave advice I was at my wits end so contacted Phil Harris at naim He took over my laptop altered setting and it appears the problem was a change of internet supplier orange to bt somehow the address was not connected He spent some 35mins or so and all is well .Customer service 1st class a great British company I am a very happy listener Thanks to allTom
Hurrah! Good old Phil, he's a top man. Why you changed from Orange to BT is beyond me. Orange (now EE) have provided us with great service and super-cheap internet, unlike BT who were appalling. But it now works, and that's what counts.
