NDX/ loose ethernet connection

Posted by: Zauberberg on 28 June 2014

I have encountered an issue that I haven't seen specifically mentioned before on the forum...would be great if anyone can help me/ give their thoughts....

I lost the internet connection to my NDX last week; a quick investigation showed that there is a sort of loose connection. Once the ethernet cable is seated ("click") into the socket on the NDX, there is still a bit of play in there. The network connection is lost if the cable is pulled slightly away from the NDX - although still clicked into place. I have the same issue regardless of whether I use a cheapo cable or the better made Chord C-stream. Has anyone else made this experience/ could it just be a problem in the spacing between the outer case and the internals of the network socket, or the first signs of something more significant...?

In any case I need to be (even) more careful when walking past the furniture...

Many thanks,
Will

Will, my view is that when connector clicks it should be tight and hold the connection even the cable is slightly pulled... This is the point of the click.

Try another lead, it it still happens, I'd take the NDX back to the dealer for attention.

Simon and Rupert, thanks for the replies. I don't think it is anything to do with the plastic guard as the connector fits in fine, just feels like there is too much play. I just checked the connection in my Unitiqute and this doesn't have the issue - it does what Simon explained it should and the connection holds.  I feared it may require a trip to the dealer, but at least I know it is not normal. Yet another box to fit into the back of the car when driving back to the UK in the summer....!
