Hi folks. I'm after buying a laptop for my son. He needs it mainly for gaming. I have a budget top of £400. Any ideas would be appreciated, particularly around spec.

Dell outlet store @ £500 I very much doubt this can be beaten as it has a Nvidia 420 or 435M which has 1gb dedicated ram
They also have an i3 and i5 model for £400, but the i7 is serious worth every penny more. They are first come first served, google dell outlet - but in reality these cannot be beaten for value.
