Help...connecting NDX to Supernait
Posted by: ast2312 on 12 March 2011
Having spent best part of Xmas setting up my network for the NDX - it has now arrived but am struggling to get it working with my Supernait. Can anyone help with me with the connections I need to make with the Supernait. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
I cannot comment on the NDX, but why is it so difficult to connect the analogue output of the NDX to eg. the CD input on the SuperNait?
Regards,
Michel

Hi Michel, Thanks for the response. I did connect the unit this way but was unable to get any sound. Thought I may be needing another cable - as I am new to Naim I was not sure.

On NaimUniti, you would need to "enable" the analog input (settings) using remote or the front panel interface. Just mentioning this in case it is similar for the SuperNait.Posted on: 12 March 2011 by winkyincanada
You might have the input assignment on the SuperNait mixed up. Check the manual.

Check the NDX output in the setup list! - DIN or RCA or both!

Thanks all. Have done all of the above. The NDX output is DIN, the supernait cd input is analgue. Still nothing. I do have a Hi-cap attached with one 5 DIN cable to the SNait however, in the manual this shows two cables - only got one in the box. When I remove the Hi-cap from the SNait to try and get a sound the source mute light flashes.
Having just been searching through the forum i sounds like the Hi-Cap does need two cables. Although when I remove the Hi-Cap connections from the SNait I still get the source mute flashing!! I just want to get the NDX and SNait working first until I can source another cable.

If you don't use the hi-cap, you need to re-fit the link-plug in the 2 sockets that send the signal to and from the hi-cap. You should have needed to remove the link plug when you tried to install the hi-cap, so hopefully you have it to hand.

DT79, Many thanks for this. Totally forgotton the link plug. Have re-fitted and all up and running. Will get second lead for Hi-Cap next week and will connect later. Many thanks.

Glad to help! I would be interested to hear how the NDX sounds going into your SN, and how it compares to your previous/other sources....

Hi DT79, The NDX sounds excellent and thats with my new SNait so hoping the sound will improve when I get more running time with amp and speakers. I also need to connect my Hi-Cap, so again I am expecting a further improvement when i get the new cable. As for a comparison to other sources, this is the first source I have ran through the SNait so difficult for me to comment. I did spend a lot of time setting up the UPnP and ripping solution so just glad the NDX works with the server. So if anyone needs helps then please feel free to ask.
Many thanks

Ok I didn't realise that the SN was also new. Glad it all sounds good anyway. You should appreciate the improvement the HC makes, and indeed it will all develop gradually over the course of a few weeks.
Cheers.
