As cd5 if poss & budget around £1500

I suggest you do a bit of research - visit your dealer and read threads on here - you can't reasonably expect a detailed set of instructions.
For £1,500 you can get a used ND5xs, though I'd go for an NDX to match the amps. You then need to get a NAS to store the music, and use a PC to rip the discs. DB power amp seems to be the software of choice to manage the ripping and tagging. I'd suggest a Synology NAS with WD Red drives. Once ripped, your PC does not need to be left running. You need a wired link from the router to a switch, and then connect the streamer and NAS to the switch. You also need to sort out a backup regime.
Those are the basics, now have a good read.
Go chat to your dealer - you can get a better idea & see & hear whats possible
You should try to go for something that does justice to your 202/200
I would sell the CD5, 2nd hand CD player prices are falling & keeping it will do nothing, selling now will part fund a 2nd hand network player - I note you are willing to go 2nd hand.
I would go for a ND5XS
You can stream from your PC or use the USB port, but you should be looking at a NAS or similar to rip all your CD's into. I advise not to go 2nd hand on NAS or at least tread with care. get new HDD's whatever you do.
I advise not to go wireless, yes it works but is not robust enough IMO & cable is best for sure. So you will need ethernet cables & network switch to connect it up to your router.
The ND5 comes with a remote thats essential for set up & works OK for playing music, but best is the free Naim iPad app called nStream for easy UPnP, iRadio & USB music selection & play.
I would start researching prices for selling CD5 & buying ND5, then you will have a better idea of what £1500 will do for you
ns01 or userve plus dac v1 would be good choices, but unfortunately out of your price range.

I can't work out if you want to rip cd's (not wanting a computer on all the time suggests that you don't, as that's effectively what a NAS is and really they need to be kept running), or if you just want to interface music on your phone with your system. The answers differ a bit according to what you really want to achieve.

If you're going to go that direction then I'd suggest a QNAP NAS as there is a QNAP install of Asset UPnP which is the only UPnP server I haven't had people mailing me having problems with...

Wow - that is quite an accolade
...for the spam filter
But seriously it's good to hear some recommendations from the top from time to time.

I know ...
It's my "go to" 3rd Party UPnP server that I either install on peoples computers when I'm doing remote support (or get them to install themselves) when I get those calls saying "It doesn't work..." and they're issues that I know are down to the UPnP server and need to show this to be the case.
I do run one of our servers (I have an HDX) at home but I also have Asset installed on my 4 bay QNAP at home as well as on the OSX and Bootcamp partitions of both my own and my work MacBook Pro because it simply doesn't cause grief (or at least hasn't done so far) and use it for testing and training purposes.
I know that there are others out there that people rave about such as MinimServer and VortexBox but they're not as "non-techie friendly" to get working by your average user and - to be quite frank - there's not any other OSX based UPnP server that I would even consider nowadays.
Certainly there's not one UPnP server that is supplied pre-installed on a readily available NAS that I haven't had issues reported with by someone or other - the WD NASs seem to give most issues with them duplicating sections of customers' music collections multiple times (cleared by getting the WD UPnP server to do a rescan). Of course when "It doesn't work" then the first call is to us because - as the bit of kit that is being controlled - it is assumed to be an issue with our kit but generally it isn't - the UPnP server being used is almost invariably the culprit.
Phil
If the NAS is causing the issues is it possible to remove my Seagate ST2000DL003 disks from my ReadyNAS and pop them in to a QNAP and maybe solve my issues that way?

Yes ... but not whilst keeping your music intact.
Moving the drives from one brand of NAS to another (or even to a different model of NAS of the same brand) would generally require the drives to be reformatted for the "new" NAS...
What actually is your issue that you are having with the ReadyNAS?
Phil
Hey Phil
Its Simon. Still having the issue where the HDX cant keep the shares or the store online. You have had a look at it for me previously. Just thought I may have spotted a quick fix but hadn't figured on the reformatting which makes sense. I'll drop you a mail
Going back to the OP - sorry for hijacking - I picked up a pre loved ND5XS recently for under 1500 and have been very happy with it first in my main system connected to the DAC and 555PS and thenin the second system 112/150 where it will stay. Easy to use and great functionality. Great SQ for the money.

Hi Simon,
Your issue is not a UPnP issue though so this discussion doesn't apply to your problem ... I'm sure that your problem is a network issue external to the HDX.

Hi job seeker
sorry but what meant was I don't won't a desktop / laptop on running every time I want too listen to music but a small little box that could be kept on would be great , thanks for your advice pete
Well thanks guys for all your help & advice this is what I,m thinking
I,m looking for something I can use with iphone /ipad as a remote
naim seem too do a lot of products & I'm a bit confused what one to go with as I'm on a bit of a tight
budget . First of I'll get a nas then take it from there I think as I can't afford it all in one shot
Pete -- I have thought about this the same way. I did not want to have to boot up a computer in order to play music, and I did not want a computer in the livingroom with my hi fi. So for me, UPnP streaming works well, with a nas and a uServe on all the time but in a room far from the hi fi.

Pete I let the uServe do all of my serving duties. I have the 2tb hdd version, which is plenty of room for me for now. although it's starting to fill up. I have a Synology 2-bay nas (Diskstation 213) for backup and general file storage duties. WD Red drives in it. Then in turn I backup the nas content to a usb external drive.

I may have missed an earlier post, so I hope you don't mind me pointing out the obvious - the nas will store the music, and with upnp software on board will serve the music. You still need a streamer, such as an nd5xs to be able to listen to it. So, if you just get the NAS as a first step, it will just sit there looking sad.
I use a Vortexbox to rip/serve. It has worked well for me. Of course, there is a learning curve with regard to ripping and tagging, plus a bit of time to convert the CD collection. Still, if I can do it, anyone can
All Naim's streaming components are great in their own way and the NStream control app is better than many. I also use Meridian's Sooloos system, which is excellent too.
