Best means of selling a bike, or two

Posted by: Loki on 14 July 2014

Just upgrading my daughter's 8 year old bike. (No I'm not seeking to sell through the forum, so please don't ask).

We now have a child's bike (6061 frame) and a young adult's (6061 hardtail MTB) surplus to requirements. Apart from the bay or ads at the news agents, what would be the best, least risky, most profitable method in the UK? Is there a guide to prices too? Valhalla is in the Peak District.

Gumtree, perhaps?

But why discount the two most obvious means?

Ebay is safe for bikes as you state that the buyer must collect, and cash only. The buyer arrives, likes and pays. Or the buyer does not like and does not finalise the deal. Either way, no skin off your nose.

In the old days you might have used Trade and Mart.

Not discounting, just exploring all my options!

Have a look at Gumtree then as this will help you arrive at a price to set.
