Model RC planes
Posted by: rupert on 21 July 2014
Hi hope I can get this on the forum keep trying to fly RC planes keep crashing them, Very expensive business can anybody recommend a learner disc for PC regards.
It maybe theatre to watch but I suggest Padded Cell for this question.
Topic moved. I know nothing about RC planes but might suggest that money spent repairing crashed ones through inexperience could be best spent on a training course or some expert hands-on instruction.
...or some Naim equipment!

Every Sunday morning these guys meet up on the old Croydon Airport near me,they are the people i feel sure you need to chat with.
Do you have any old Airfields in your area? also do a Google search as you will find most things that way.

Having crashed my fair share there is no easy answer, Futaba(Radio Control Equipment manufacturers) used to and maybe still do have a "buddy system" where you can have 2 transmitters but only one in control at a time.
As mista h suggests find a local model aircraft club go along and see if they are willing to teach you.
Whereabouts are you Rupert?
Do a google search for RealFlight and Phoenix. The both do computer based flight simulation using a provided moc RC radio. There are others who do the same thing. I don't do rc planes but I played with one of these simulators in a hobby store and it was great fun. Yes, I crashed a few times but you do catch on. The guys in the store said they are very close to the real thing. All that's missing is dealing with the wind.
Did you start on easier/slower models like gliders? That would seem, to me at any rate, the easy way into the hobby. The speeds some of the more expensive planes fly at leaves no room for error and errors will always be terminal!
As an aside, check youtube for some of the RC jets out there. Quite how a person can control a 400mph RC jet is beyond me.
Thank you Clay Bingham sorted flying out many thanks
The most extra-ordinary flying I've ever seen - may not help but inspiring!
Excellent stuff. Some of the other videos are worth looking at too. Large scale EE Lightning for one.
