Hi Res Files not showing in N Stream

Posted by: JohnL on 22 July 2014

Hi all, a recent "newbie" to hi res downloading. Initially went well (Steely Dan Gaucho from Linn and Peter Gabriel So from B&W). I recently purchased the deluxe re-masters of Led Zeppelin 1 and 2. With these is a high res download code. So far so good. Downloaded them onto PC but when I open them up, all displayed as single track files with no apparent way (to me, anyway) to collapse into a folder to drag across to NAS drive. I set up a new folder (for each download), dragged the tracks in and then dragged into Multimedia folder on Nas. These are showing on the Nas but do not appear in N Stream. Tried re booting/re scanning the Nas but to no avail. I've obviously done something wrong (I'm not good with computers). Anyone got any ideas ??. Many thanks as always, John

check the tags from B&W - they are different - there does not seem to be a common approach to Tags- had the same issue with B&W = Artist was missing - you will need to Tag artist name if that is the case

I use dBpoweramp - so easy to do -  but one day they may all use the same format?

Where did Led Zep files come from? Not B&W, I suspect.

Try opening them in Media Monkey. You should should then be able to tag them by changing their properties.

Hi Antony and Keith, thanks for your replies. The files come from Warners Music who are issuing the Led Zep masters. I am a bit confused here, sorry don't have "Media Monkey" ( or know what that is to be honest). I simply downloaded the files (to windows download folder). The Linn and B&W files unzip as album folders that simply drag and drop into multimedia on db poweramp. The Warners files unzip as individual track files rather than an album folder. I thought I could simply highlight and drag them into a new folder and then drag that across into multimedia but whilst these are showing in multimedia, nothing on N Stream. I really hate computers

It can take a little while for files to appear in nStream, as the server needs to put them in the right place. If you have set your downloads to be separate from ripped CDs, try going back through nStream to devices and ask it to look at all devices. I use a UnitiServe, which has a separate folder for downloads, so your setup may be similar, or not of course.

Media Monkey is an application which will allow you to manage your music. Download the free version from their website. It's a bit like Windows Explorer. Go to the file where your music is filed. You can then manage the tags on your files, if they are FLAC (Not so easy if they're WAV). Highlight the files and right click and choose properties. The tags then become visible and can be changed. Make sure they have the right album title, for example. You can also add artwork, if it isn't there already.

MP3 TAG is alternative to MM.

if they are WAV, you need to put them in a folder, as Nigel says. The artwork needs to be in the same folder and named folder.jpg.

Hope this helps.

Hi all, many thanks for your help. It did not occur to me that I may have to retag the file in db poweramp once I dragged across. Have opened them up under "Edit ID Tag and re-named the album and put artwork in. All is well. Thank you all for your help. 'Till the next time..........

Many thanks

pleased it worked, lets hope at some point in the future there is some commonality with Tag's in the future

I know from past experience B&W and Linn are different - but it is easy to amend
