Tinkering with an old Beggars Banquet CD

I've been reading about the original version of the Roling Stones Beggars Banquet album and how it was approx 30 seconds longer than intended. Apparently the most recent versions of the CD have been sped up to account for the original error. It seems to be generally accepted that the faster version is better.

I love this album but this is all news to me. Has anyone used audio software such as Audacity to speed up their old CD version to 'modern standards'?

If so I'd be interested to hear how it went. I'll give it a bash later to see what I think.
