Where can I get a new leather sofa quickly (and legally) in the UK?

Hi Folks

Can anyone point me to a retailer that sells leather sofas with immediate or very fast delivery?  I'd need to be able to go to look at and try oout before buying, so the closer to North Warwickshire the better.

There's such a place really close to me (Leather Sofa World) but have ended up with problems supplying the one I wanted.

Thanks

You could try DFS, they may have something in stock.  Their must be at least 6 shops within a 30 mile radius of you.

John Lewis. Check their website. Some if their sofas have 7 day delivery.

Ditto. We went to John Lewis on a Saturday and through pure luck they delivered the following Monday. We did pay a few quid extra for the delivery but hey, that was incredible.

Tesco Direct have come up trumps on this one!  3-5 days before delivery.  Had to find one of their Home Plus stores (50 miles away, but combined with another excursion, not too bad) to see it and try it out, but all sorted now.

An honorable mention should go to Leather Sofas Online too.  I emailed to ask whether there was anywhere I could see them, and their sales manager called me to discuss their sofas.  They don't show them, but have a policy of delivering, then offering to take them away immediately if not completely satisfied - I was almost tempted.

Thanks for all your help.

Be very careful as buying a leather sofa is a minefield.  Company's like DFS sell tat that looks good. There are many grades of leather and some will last a lifetime and some will struggle to make 5 years. Also the frame and filling can vary in quality.  A friend of mine bought a sofa from DFS and it is obvious that the colour was sprayed onto very thin leather rather than dyed. The colour is wearing away in the areas on which he sits. It is 4 years old and looks a mess. He paid £800 for a 2+2, so be warned. Leather is a product where quality costs.

You need hotel quality. I bought a set ( 3 + 2 + 1) for £4000.00 about 15 years ago and it still looks brand new with no cracks etc.  I will probably replace it when I get bored with it rather than it wearing out.

You need to do some reseach on leather and sofa suppliers and take it from there.

I endorse the choice of Ekorne/Stressless, this German company have a strict QA on everything, very much like Naim.

James1's post seems to have rekindled a few extra comments some six months after I got this sorted.

The company he recommends was one I'd been in touch with, but their selling model (see my previous post) was too much of a gamble.  The need for speed was driven by the fact that a local supplier had been unable to fulfil my order in a sensible time frame.  The sofas I bought from Tesco Direct are probalby not the ultimate in quality but met my immediate needs.  I too can recommend the Ekornes 'stuff' - my parents have used them.

Best wishes
