Led Zep IV and HOTH out late October, with bonus cuts

Posted by: Kevin-W on 29 July 2014

Both albums out 28 October (29 in the US). As before, in single LP, double LP, single CD, double CD, and super deluxe box with LPs, CDs, book and hi-rez audio.

Bonus cuts look good - again, most of them look unfamiliar to me:

Led Zeppelin IV (Companion Audio)

1. “Black Dog,” Basic Track With Guitar Overdubs

2. “Rock and Roll,” Alternate Mix

3. “The Battle of Evermore,” Mandolin/Guitar Mix From Headley Grange

4. “Stairway to Heaven,” Sunset Sound Mix

5. “Misty Mountain Hop,” Alternate Mix

6. “Four Sticks,” Alternate Mix

7. “Going to California,” Mandolin/Guitar Mix

8. “When the Levee Breaks,” Alternate U.K. Mix

Houses of the Holy (Companion Audio)

1. “The Song Remains The Same,” Guitar Overdub Reference Mix

2. “The Rain Song,” Mix Minus Piano

3. “Over the Hills And Far Away,” Guitar Mix Backing Track

4. “The Crunge,” Rough Mix – Keys Up

5. “Dancing Days,” Rough Mix With Vocal

6. “No Quarter,” Rough Mix With JPJ Keyboard Overdubs – No Vocal

7. “The Ocean,” Working Mix

Cue the bitching and moaning!

Even though I highly rate Led Zep IV I am not sure I will buy unless the bonus tracks are really good.

As I bought I, II and III but found I played them once and then reverted back to my Classic Records versions.

I also have IV on Classic Records - so we will see.

Not for me either, especially as I found the nice French first press of Houses of the Holy for £10 at the market last weekend.

Not for me either, Will stick with the originals. But I can understand those that have not got the early presses may well be tempted.

I doubt I'll be able to resist a high resolution version of 'Houses of the Holy'. somehow this album still seems exciting to my ears. I still enjoy the guitar part of TSRTS.

Now?  Nowhere, certainly not legally, as they are not scheduled to be released 'til the end of October.  In the EU, Hiresaudio.com has LZ I, II and III in hi res format for purchase.  I am not sure what if any geographic restrictions they place.

I bought I, II and III from hiresaudio.com and I'm in the UK. That's where I'll be looking for the next two.

Thanks @Bart and @IanG.

I'll calm down and carry on listening to Mothership CD rip in the meantime.

Bought one of the Marvin Gaye albums from hiresaudio the other day.  Very impressed the SQ and buying process.  A shame that this site doesn't allow purchase of individual tracks.

The Guardian had a piece yesterday featuring a sneak peek of the alternate Black Dog that will be on the reissue in October.

I couldn't lift a link for the video so here is the page it's on

I definitely will get the high res versions. I found the earlier ones worthwhile to listen. And still have of course the other versions on my NAS
