The death of my ns01!

Hopefully not permanent death, but at least in need of a trip to Naim hq.
Monday morning I found my ns01 not working. The simple reason was that tit had turned itself off during the night.
First thought was a short power cut, but the rest of the system worked fine, and the router had not been down according to the log.
So I turned on the ns01. It started up fine, but after about 90 seconds turned itself off. The same happened a few times later in the day.
Fortunately I have a backup system in place, A Squeezebox receiver connected to my Ndac, mostly used with Wimp  lossless streaming.

Since I  have not converted my  server rips to flac, I have problems using the backup I have on my nas.
I wonder what has happened to the unit. A computer usually does not shup itself down, if there is a problem, it will just refuse to boot up. Hopefully it will not be a too expensive trip to Naim HQ.
And already after a few  hours I really miss the dtc, nothing comes close to it as the ultimate remote for the system!

Claus sorry to hear it.  The backup is really that -- a backup of your Naim rips.  It's not an alternate copy that can simply be accessed by other, non-Naim servers.  This is one reason why I've moved to having my uServe do flac.  The backup is then much more usable by an alternate server.

Yes I chose to keep most of my rips in wav format because I thought the y ere margianlly better. I would have made my current situation easier if I had gone over to wav.

Fortunately I am not going to convert all my wav albums, most of them are available  through my online lossless streaming solution.

I have found a free wav to flac converter, and I have tried to use mp3 tag, to insert filenames as trackname, but it does not work, wich is a littel strange.

If this can work I need only to insert album and artis name manually, aand maybe also find a  way to number the tracks for each album.

Sorry to hear that. I hope that your NS01 won't be too long away for repair. Please let us know...
