UnitiServe Can’t see the Synology NAS

Posted by: ivanchionh on 04 August 2014

Could not extend from a thread “UnitiServe Can’t see the Qnap NAS”, this thread was created based on personal trial to solve the problem.

After a power trip, UnitiServe displayed “Empty” but the UnitiServe still had the NAS name (main folder/subfolder) in the Network Shares. Realised that the ip address of the NAS was changed.

Ways to solve the problem failed - reboot NAS, reboot UnitiServe, remove NAS main folder/sub folder, keyed lower case NAS main folder/sub folder (faced the date problem, it displayed 1753-1-1).

Alas, remove the lower case NAS main folder/sub folder in the UnitiServe, manually keyed the previous ip address for the NAS. Go to UnitiServe, Refresh All Shares under Network Shares, the main folder appeared. After few seconds, the sub folder appeared.

It worked!

Hopefully the manufacturers can devise a better self-diagnostic solution so that we can enjoy a hassle-free system.

If you fix all the IP addresses, the problem you encountered should not reoccur.
