Guitar Riffs at The BBC - RATM

Posted by: Ron Brinsdon on 17 August 2014

Watched this when it was aired recently but forgot to record it and so cannot remember the name of the track played by Rage Against The machine which had me moving in a beerly fashion.

Any out there who saw the programme and can recall the tune?

Thanks,

Ron

Track down the original LP or Music on Vinyl edition of their self titled album that has this track on it. One of the best recorded/mastered rock albums of all time. Awesome album too.

It's a great day on BBC Radio 2 today, with the count down as voted by the public.

We're down to 50 already and I've only just got up and switched on.

Guess I'll be playing catch up on iPlayer the next few days!

Unfortunately I've got some decorating to do, however I think it might take me longer than it should do today whilst listening to this

Looking at the top 100, there are some strange selections.

Surely this should be in there.

Along with this.

And this, it contains two killer riffs.

Yes, some strange selections, and we will all have some omissions from the list.

Overall though, it's been a long time since I've heard so many good tracks in such a short time on Radio 2!

It will never be a collection that satisfies everyone and will change with time. Most of us old farts will have favourites from the golden age of rock but many youngsters won't have been exposed to the range of music that we have. I'm pleased they included The Kinks 'You Really Got Me' as I feel this was the first true rock riff. I remember hearing it on TOTP when I was a child and it really did 'get me'.
