Hi all recently tried to rip my Lou Reed New York CD - brand new. It chugs to the end then spits it out with 10 errors. I didn't like the leading edge of the disk it looked like it might not have been well printed. So I sent it back for a replacement which looks perfect. Same problem. FYI the MacBook pro ripped them both to iTunes Lossless with no issues. Any ideas?
Aside form this its been ripping other new CD's recently, including a SACD hybrid, with no issues. Though I did get 3 quarters of the way through ripping a Jake Thackery box set when it failed to acknowledge the 4th disc was present.

Sorry Nagual,
My copy of this CD ripped to FLAC (using DBPoweramp) without any problems at all.
Not really much use to you, I am afraid - I don't have any suggestions as to what your problem might be. Are you attempting to rip to FLAC?
Wow - Jake Thackery - that takes me back! Not a favourite of mine, but certainly distinctive.

thanks Hmack, using the usual WAV format I've always used. Will try the great on off trick tonight see if the HDX picks its socks up.
I'm wondering if ripping to flac on iTunes might provide a rip of acceptable SQ.
The Jake Thackray was a recent purchase having heard his Lah Di-Dah track on 6 music whilst driving. Different and quite amusing.

You could make a cd copy and try ripping this. Quite fast to do and has been known to work with difficult CDs.

Thanks all, I used XLD to do a WAV rip of both troublesome discs. Then copied them to my HD folder of the NAS. Sounds good though the meta data went slightly up it so bought metadictics to solve it. Stil getting to grips with that but the music is sounding great nonetheless so cheers.
Tried some Georges Brassens too which also sounds good, though my pre GCSE French is woefully short of understanding anything he is singing about.

Check the ripping log from some previously ripped CDs. Were there any errors on these? If so, could be your DVD drive is going out.

Have you tried re-booting (power cycling) the HDX? It's a computer, after all, and computers sometimes get their knickers in a twist. My HDX occasionally 'locks up' some, but not all, of its functionality and becomes its usual self after a reboot. Luckily this happens only every two or three months.
Let us know if this works

Oh, and the ripping log on the HDX, as sktn77a said, will tell you what it doesn't like about the rip, all you have to do is to interpret what the log is telling you !!

cheers all. I had done a reboot but to no affect. I will examine the logs from the other rips I made at the same time and compare though usually I get 0 errors. I will look again tonight
