Chord Hugo & HiLine

Posted by: Shaun McCullagh on 31 August 2014

I've read so much about the Chord Hugo on this forum that I've decided to buy one.

Does anyone know if the analogue RCA output sockets are far enough apart for a HiLine cable fitted with RCA plugs? I'd like to use this to hook it up to my 202.

I wonder if it will sound better than my existing  Audiophilleo 1/nDAC/XPS2-DR.

I'll be using Audirvana with a Mac mini as a source.....

If I remember rightly Steve J is using a RCA HiLine from Hugo to his 552.

I know Simon-in-Suffolk uses a HiLine (2 x RCA into DIN) from his Hugo into his 282 because I asked him this precise question not so long ago on another thread.

Can't help with the comparison.

Hi, the Hiline phono plugs fit the Hugo no problems. The Hiline certainly shows the Hugo off when connected to Naim. (But do let the Hugo run in first)

Yes indeed. It works very well.

Dear all,

Many thanks for your advice. I've just discovered a Dutch reseller (I live in Amsterdam) who offers 1 year money back offer on the Hugo so I will have a long time to decide if it is better to my ears.....

Very interested in Simon's remark in another thread that the nDAC/555PS exhibits a bit more bass et al than the Hugo. I'm currently using nDAC/XPS2-DR

Normally one always uses a Naim pre-amp with Naim power amplifier. However, has anybody tried connecting the Hugo directly to a Naim power amplifier? (I have a 200)

Cheers
