Is your NAS drive safe?

Very Interesting, but also very worrying.
I work in IT (although not on the network or hardware support side of IT), and so I should have a better knowledge than most of the generic risks associated with NAS devices.
However, I am sure that most people are oblivious of the dangers. Even as someone who knows a bit about these things, I will now re-visit the configuration of my own device just to make sure I haven't made any mistakes with my setup.
My music NAS is a stand alone system that has only music installed, if anyone steals it I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.
But the bigger picture message is we do need to be careful with the digitally stored stuff.
I just take care to have the latest rev updates on OS & security. And I have different passwords for different items that I change about twice a year. (& yes I have a system for setting & not forgetting passwords)
On a Qnap under security you can "Allow connections from the list only" then enter your IP range of your network and external networks you want to connect to your Qnap, if you attempt this make sure you enter the correct IP info to avoid connection issues
