Staycation in the U.K versus Eurozone mini-breaks

Posted by: Disposable hero on 25 September 2014

Dears,

Are there any recommendations on what might be considered a "staycation" within the United Kingdom, versus a trip to a Eurozone destination?

This may be on the basis of :

- City or town/ landscape, beach locations

- 3 or 4 nights, B&B

- Budget of £500 but could be flexible

Which is better, £ for £ (or € for €  ) for all leisurely fulfilments?

Beach locations? Are we talking summer or winter here?

York, Glasgow, Edinburgh come to mind. Something for most people at these locations or surrounding. How about a stay on the shore of Loch Lomond for the scenery and catch the train into Glasgow one day-it is a short hop.

Long weekend in Keswick or Ambleside? The Lakes are great for the next month or so if we keep this dry Autumn.
