Quantum light

It seems to me blindingly obvious the conundrum regarding quantum theory - one particle being in multiple positions but only being in one - once measured - light waves are some magnitude larger than quantum waves, so the theory that light is the fastest constant is only relative to light waves. If we had the capability to measure beyond light frequencies you would discover faster frequencies than light, that one particle is traveling so fast it can be where it wants to be.

The 'multiple positions' of a particle refer to the probabilities that a particle is in one place or indeed an infinity of others prior to measurement. Not simultaneous existence everywhere. That collapses to a finite point on measurement. So I 'understand' it.

Cannot believe we are discussing this on here!

There are some rather more qualified folk than me to respond too.

Now, how is that cat getting on....

That cat is dead and alive...

I think it was Niel Bohr that said something like: If you don't get dissy when thinking about quantum theory you haven't understood it.

One of our previos forum menbers, Brian, wrote a neat little book called "The Quantum Universe". A realtively (forgive the pun) easy-to-read book, which leads you progressively deaper and deaper into the subject.

I gather that our Brian now works in the physics department at Manchester, so doesn't have much time to help out with such discussions on this form these days.

Current laws, surely, dear Char.

And surely you would able to tell if a cake inside a tin had already been scoffed, by the weight of the tin, though until eaten you would not know if the hash key had been pressed when ordering it from your cake dealer!

If the cake had been burnt, then it should have gone in the dog bowl or rubbish bin rather than the cake tine!
