Streaming audio from analog source

Hi

I would like to convert analog audio from my turntable and stream it directly (i.e. not store it in a file) to Naim Unitiqute 2 through Wifi. Does anyone know if this is possible? Well of course it is somehow, but are there any reasonably simple and tested solutions anywhere on the net? I'm figuring it should maybe be possible using a preamp and a Raspberry PI with e.g. Wolfson Audio Card for converting and streaming. I have searched the net for solutions for weeks with very limited success. Any suggestions?

PSAudio NuWave Phono Converter

does exactly what you want to do.

Not sure this is a common requirement . . . Taking an analogue signal, and turning it into digital data, and then back again. I have to ask, why? Wouldn't it be better just to buy a cheap phono stage and do the whole thing analogue? If it's the need for wi-fi (ie your turntable and UQ are physically remote) then I would recommend a long cable or rearranging the room.

WRT the Wolfson Sound Card, I've only seen it used for D/A (it's effectively a PC soundcard) so I'm not sure it would work unless it has capabilities I'm not aware of.

If you absolutely must have digital streaming, then you'll need a A/D converter for the Pi, which you can buy. I can't imagine it would sound great though. I'm not sure how you'd physically connect it or how you'd fool the UQ to accept the signal, given it's expecting UPNP. Someone expert such as @Simon-in-Suffolk could doubtless help.

So not too useful, but at least your post is back at the top of the list :-)

@Aleg - good call on the NuWave, but it's a whole other price point compared with a Raspberry Pi. Also, are you sure it has wi-fi? If not, OP has still to set up how the data reaches a remote UQ.

Looks really nice, but what about the Wi-Fi part?
