New app stopped working

Posted by: John Byrne on 06 October 2014

I have a UnitiLite and the new app worked until today. On startup it now shows "ROOMS" with my unitiLite displayed for selection. When I select it I get the message "Streamer not responding".

No options are available except "Add room manually". I can add my UnitiLite manually and it duploicates the one that's there and both "don't respond"

Kinsky finds my streamer just fine from the ipad and Leia, AssetControl and eezuPnP all play from windows laptops.

I've tried upgrading to iOS 8.0.2 and that doesn't help. My UnitiLite firmware shows 3.23.00

All devices are connecting wirelessly via BT HH5 and the UnitLite is wired to that.

(Is "new app" really its name? Mine seems to be called "ROOMS", there's no other branding)

John,

I've found that successive BT home hubs have little skits when something new appears. It takes them a few days to accept the newcomer and play nicely. Did the same when we put in a new television (wired ethernet connection).  Powercycling does usually work eventually and bizarrely sometimes so does calling its bluff and going to look at its homepage. Oh the joys of networks

Maplin don't seem to sell the gigabit version in any case so I'll probably stick with what I've got and upgrade some time in future if I feel the need. a 5-port switch will always be useful somewhere.

Well of course there are fibre accesses, but these don't seem to have caught on in consumer land, and i only see them in commercial configs.. Or unless you are connecting outbuildings in large domestic settings... Electrical ethernet has a maximum length of 100m.
