Easy(?) question.

Having abandoned the old n-stream on all my iOs devices now. Before when I was playing music, using a playlist on "the fly", adding and deleting tracks. Then after a while I wanted to use the TV in the Digital Input 3 on my NDX. Then later when I went back to UPnP, the app/NDX whatever "Restored history" and I was able to listen to what I have listened to earlier. Now however, do I really need to save those playlists to be able to listen to them again when going back to UPnP after having used another input?? Thanks.

I can't get my mind to understand that question, please reform it.

No idea, have you tried this? The last play queue or album info would normally be retained in the streamer's "memory" so I don't see why not.

Magnus,

If your question is "are the UPnP playlists, created using nStream app (now the Naim app), still there after switching inputs on my streamer?" then I believe the answer is "yes." which you can easily confirm.  It works for me.

I am using Asset on my Mac for my UPnP server.  Those playlists created by the app can partially or totally become unplayable if I re-scan my library with my server.  I mostly use playlists I create separately on my Mac and export - then they I can select them from the Naim app when bowing my music Library.

Are you using a UnityServe or HDX?

I believe the app-created playlists are store in the app's memory.  (Lists I create on my iPad are not visible when I control from my iPhone).

Or maybe I am missing the point....

Cheers,

Charlie

Thank you. I will do some "tests" today. I believe the new app is very nice, but there are some flaws as mentioned in other threads.

Thought I'd post thisquery to this thread rather than staring a new one.

NDS firmware 3.21

nStream 3.4.7079

How do you set up and save a playlist using nStream, as implied on this thread?  Perhaps I'm being dim, but I can't see how it is done.  I don't think I have ever achieved more than to set up a play queue.

I really think apps like nStream ought to have a manual or at least some access to an FAQtype help file.

Dungassign, it's quite easy when you know how.

In the new app, in UPnP go to a track you would like to put in a Playlist to save for the future and click on the 3 dots on the right hand side of the track.

Select Add to New playlist, give the playlist a title in the next option, and that's it, job done!

For future tracks you wish to add to the Playlist, click the 3 dots by the side of the track you wish to add, and in the next screen look for the Playlist you just named.

And so on.

and then you will see the named Playlist come up on the front screen of the App.

Look under the iRadio Presets and you will see Playlists.

Hope this helps?

Have fun creating a playlist or two tonight!

Thanks.  Sounds simple enough, but I still say that there ought to be a manual, rather than having to press/click at random to see what happens.

I really just want to set up a couple of playlists for the grandkids and will give it a go tomorrow.

No problem!

I was thinking about this question regarding a User Manual for the App a few days ago after something someone posted in one of the other threads, and of all the Apps I have on my iPad, none of them have a guide or help info, so the Naim app is not unusual in this respect.

I think in this new world of apps, the designers aim to make them as intuitive as possible, and then rely on users to not be afraid to click around and see what they find.

The description in the App Store often explains what the app is capable of and the features that can be found.

I must say for me, the basics I got to myself, but some of the finer points and more hidden features, I learnt a lot from the forum.

As always, a very knowledgeable lot on here, the advice and help from which never ceases to amaze me.
