Question about netgear switch set up

Posted by: Scooot on 15 October 2014

Hi,

i have just installed a netgear gigabit switch in my system and was wondering if all was ok.

The ports on the switch that the virgin media super hub 2 and Nas are plugged into are showing 1000 Mbps. The cable running to the nd5xs is only showing 100 Mbps. All cable is cat 5e.The system is playing fine and I have noticed that the new app seems to responding faster.

Is this correct or is there something amiss with the connection somewhere.

thanks scott

The ND5 XS only ever connects at 100Mbps - that is correct.

It sounds ok. I don't think the Naim things go above 100 anyway. The main thing is that it works!

I have also just installed a Netgear switch; it shows my Unitiserve and Airport Extreme at 1000MB, and my ISP router at 100. Either way, it shouldn't be a problem, even hi-res files aren't that big.
