Naim Mu-So - Alarm Clock ?

Posted by: David100 on 05 November 2014

Hello,

Does the Mu-So include an alarm-clock radio ?

It is not clear from user manual or site info and I would like to use it as my bedroom system.

If yes, is it possible to set a progressive volume ?

Thanks a lot

David

I doubt it, but there may be an app that lets your iPhone (or whatever) do the job, via the Mu-so.

For iPhone, there are certainly alarm clock apps that allow the wake-up to be an iTunes play-list. The question of whether the airplay connection would work automatically and throw the music the the Mu-so which would be able to wake itself up to play is one I can't answer.

Definitely not I'm afraid. It's a streaming digital radio with no clock.

Perhaps if enough of us ask for this (as well as a timer so it can shut itself down) the facility might appear in a future update?

Would make a great bedroom alarm clock! And I like to fall asleep to HHGttG.

A sleep function would be very useful.

Sonos has both an alarm and sleep function implemented in software. Feature request Naim?

In that case I'll definitely order one

It's the excuse I've needed to get rid of the 12 year old Bose Wave Radio/CD in the bedroom!

Apple have famously made many thousands of people late for work through the failure of their iphone alarm clock. If you're going to trust Naim to do better, I'd suggest spending £4.99 at Argos on a reliable backup device.

I regularly use the iPhone alarm clock. The alarm itself works just fine. It is the battery going flat during the night that is the risk. This is much worse with the apps that keep the display on. The phone needs to be in a dock or plugged in for those.

Actually,

On this video of the Mu-So, I see that the Mu-So iPad app features an alarm clock option (at 3:40) :

But in other videos of the app, I don't see it (and the Manual does not mention it).

I am confused....

Can an actual owner of the Mu-So confirm or not the existence.

And, if it does exist:

- Does the ipad send the alarm clock programming to the Mu-So (and then Ipad can be shut-off ?)

- Or is it the ipad that will trigger the Mu-So when it is actually time to wake up (which may be not very reliable indeed - I have also had my fair share of failed wake ups) ?

I mean : who handles the wake-up action : the Ipad or the Mu-So

No evidence of an alarm, nor the ability to set one via the iPad application.
