Current f/w on ND5
Posted by: solwisesteve on 11 November 2014
Just got a brand new ND5 from Naim (replacement for faulty unit).
When I check the web interface for f/w version it says
Firmware Date: | 2013-08-28 |
Firmware Version: | 2.0.50.12943 |
That's date August 2013 and version 2.0.50!!
Is that right? I mean do naim not send products out with up to date f/w?
Sorry the paste for date/version didn't seem to work but it said Date 2013-08-38 and version 2.0.5.12943
I can't see 3.22 on the web device status page at all. Do you have to check via the display to get the correct version number?
Looking at my NDX web page "Device Status" it shows exactly the same numbers
The firmware is 3.22
Oh... in that case mines super old!!
I believe the 2013-08-28 is not the firmware release date - it was released in Nov-2013. Its probably an internal project start date
.......... I should have added ------- to find f/w version
With the remote control (the black thing you don't use)
Tools (symbol button)
Factory Setting > System Status
Scroll down to almost the end & see "Version"

Solwisesteve...I ordered a new ND5 XS at the end of last December. I received a sealed, unopened unit, dating back to August 2013! Bearing in mind these are mostly built to order. The software installed was 3.21, updated in August. So it had old software on it. This of course is totally unacceptable. My dealer, from Bedfordshire, was shocked when I told him, he immediately sent the unit back, and ordered a new unit. He was excellent!
For some strange reason, my original unit had been sitting somewhere between August and the end of December. I should have smelt a rat, when I looked at the serial number on the outside of the box, it was well old. It's a good way of telling when it came off the assembly line.

I kinda thought that... I'll check via the remote when I get home. Doing this over a VPN link to home at the moment ;-)
Okay... via the display/remote the version is 3.23!
It would cause less confusion, well for me anyway, if the GUI showed this as well but so be it.
Sorry to be the cause of so much trouble.
Yes 3.23 is OK its what has been installed in new units for a few months
As I understand firmware protocol, number changes to the 2nd decimal point is for small minor adjustments. The significant changes will change the 1st decimal point number.
I'm sure someone posted a few weeks ago that they had 3.23, maybe it's just a minor update that Naim didn't want to release for download. (By minor, I mean no Qobuz, Tidal or Airplay!)

That was probably me. My NDS bought this summer has firmware 3.23.000. I must admit I haven't been aware of any difference in functionality to the firmware version 3.22 on my old ND5XS.
