Posted by: TJ on 11 November 2014
The latest update has just been released to the app store, here are a list of the major changes.
Fixed: iRadio browsing could sometimes be slow
Fixed: Text field overlaps when entering playlist name
Fixed: Rovi popovers are created much too small
Fixed: UPnP Album view. Rovi button sometimes is visible but cannot be pressed
Fixed: Clear image cache setting is missing
Fixed: UPnP “play now” starts at track 2
Fixed: USB input is missing repeat and random
Fixed: Volume control would sometimes be unresponsive on iRadio or UPnP input
@sjabbey, what iOS version are you on? which search icon are you tapping? Seems to work OK for me. Could you mail me a screenshot please
Regards
Tom
This does seem to be an intermittent issue. Given that the app is communicating direct with the streamer (non UPnP compatibility mode) I wonder if this communication can get dropped when the app is idle or the iPad is off doing something else e.g. web browsing. I've noticed sometimes I get a spinning circle when going back to the app from safari. Also simply closing the app and reopening it i.e. re-establishing the link between the app and the streamer brings the progress bar back into view.
I get this quite frequently as well. Im sure if this had been the only issue on version 4.0 then it would have been a greater annoyance than it is, considering all the issues the new app has had i hardly notice it.

update:
as i mentioned in an earlier post -- i installed the Airport Express base station last night. Its connected to my Netgear GS108 switch. Installation was a breeze. I set the NAS drive, UnitiServe, NDS and iPad to all have fixed IP's via the 'Bind to Mac' in the Draytek 2120N router. I had actually intended to 'unbind' these IP addresses so that the router was in the same state that has been working up to now -- but forgot. Ah well...
When the AE was up and running -- checked the UPnP browser -- the server was there. Good sign, but i had been here before -- the UnitiServe disappeared afterwards -- and this seemed to be after i had switched the NDS on.
This time, switching on the NDS didnt have the same effect -- the server was still 'discovered' by the browser. Another good sign.
Opened the Naim app (4.2) and played a few tracks -- and left it as i had other things to do.
This morning, i nervously checked if all was OK -- and it was :-)
Looks like this little dinky box solved my problem then and i can now play my music without all the harassment from network setup issues.
Thanks to all those who nudged me in this direction -- Simon, Hook, TJ and a few souls who kindly emailed me with some suggestions. I guess this is what makes a great forum.
long may it stay that way (my naim streaming system, and the forum...)
enjoy

Ken, sorry for the tardy reply. Yes my suspicions will be with your Vigor wifi implementation.. Discovery data has to be / should be done a certain way on wifi that is different to wired connection. This is needed for your NStream (any version) to discover the renderer and UPnP DLNA server.
I know that Apple wifi devices do support wifi discovery well, I use them here, and in the past I have used in place of Cisco etc.
So if you can get an Apple Airport express and set in bridge mode with its own SSID for your iPad/phone, and connect to a standalone switch along with your renderer/network player and server, you removing the variables.
EDIT, I see you have now done this and it's working! Great, now enjoy the music
To the point of the ND players locking up and not playing tracks sent to it.. I see this on the NDX and has been there for a long time, and has been mentioned on this forum over the months.. I am fairly confident its a bug that crashes the Naim streamer board. As is said, the only work around that I know is to power cycle.

Forgot to add iOS version details. Am using iOS 8.1 (12B410) which I believe is the latest version for the iPad.
8.1.1 available today!
8.1.1 available today!
I have only just downloaded 8.1.

No worries and thanks to you and others for all your help. My streaming setup is still working OK, so i am happier now -- though i don't really understand why these discovery issues arose al of a sudden when my setup was working OK for a long time. I guess updating the Unitiserve to 1.7a and NDS to 3.22 may have something to do with it -- how, i really dont know.
i must say i was very impressed with the simplicity of the AE installation -- enough to make me consider moving to the Apple world. :-)
I didnt even have to worry/understand what 'bridge' mode is about - i just set up a new network when prompted by the setup utility and then all was plain sailing from that point. i have the NAS, Unitiserve, NDS and iPad all fixed IP addresses via 'Bind to Mac' in the Vigor router -- i actually suspect it would have worked even without this -- i didnt even run the Naim IP tool -- i will leave things as they are for now.
enjoy...

Hi Ken- well its not quite as all plain sailing as it once was for all Apple products (remember "it just works" - but yes relatively straightforward configuration is a strength of Apple's.
The frustration with Apple builds when I try and do something not standard - or in a non Apple approved way - and then its often sooo frustrating. I run both MS and Apple because of this - the latter for the straightforward and the former for the more adventurous stuff.
But glad its still working for you.
Simon
I'm still having lots of problems with playlists and they don;t appear to follow any logic - one night all is fine and the next the entire playlist is not on the server, or it randomly adds 200 songs to the playlist tonight that are not available to play on the playlist the following day. Very frustrating
Have you still got a problem with Playlists? I still do and don't know whether it is being remedied with the App or whether I need to be doing something. Thanks.
I've managed to replicate the behaviour. This time I noticed it happened when I browsed away from the original Amazon page to look at another CD in the Rovi Amazon site. After closing/cancelling the Amazon page the progress area was once again blank.
incidentally, the bottom of the screen looks as if it expects the progress area to be there I.e. No other info or icons will appear or use this space.
SJ I have now been able to replicate your behaviour with the new App. I find that with classical music you rarely get it to find album details from the net, so I am often searching and I think if you have to search then you don't see the SF-Fault.
However, the last couple of times when it has found the correct album details and I have not had to intervene, then when I go into Amazon and come back I lose the icon at the bottom that takes me into queue mode.
Exactly as you said in your posts.
Hi Bill
So it isn't just me then. I just have to remember that a certain sequence of actions on the app will cause it to do odd things and avoid them.

No SJ your observations were quite correct, hopefully they will help NAIM find a solution.
And when can we expect a bug free Android version?
