Noisy CD Transport
Posted by: Lewishurlin on 15 November 2014
I have a CD5Si . It works perfectly but when you put a CD in or stop it the transport is noisy. What could this be ?
Does it do it with every CD?
Sounds like worn bearings maybe...
It does. If I get it repaired how much would it cost ?
Hi,
I had a CD mechanism replaced a few years ago on a CDX and recently on a Marantz CD67SE, each costing about 250 in Canadian dollars.

I had the same issue with the CD drive in a uniti 1. I could fix it myself after getting a hint from my naim dealer. The problem was that the small disc where the CD fits on, that is clipped onto a small pin, was lose. I just did put a small drop of superglue (really not much!) onto the pin and set back the disc onto it. Just press a little bit, not too hard.
After this the noise was gone and the CDs play fine again.
The disc can get lose when dropping the magnetic thing too hard onto the CD. You idealy should smoothly attach the magnetic clip by setting it on one edge first and then smoothly flip it into the right position.
(If you understand german I could explain it better. But I hope I could explain it good enough.)
edit: In my case if setting the magnetic clip onto the disc without a CD inserted, this little disc was taken off the pin, sticking at the magnetic clip. If this happens for you, too, you probably have the same issue.
