UnitiQute and 24bit/192kHz
Posted by: Montie on 17 November 2014
Hello.
I downloaded test file form http://www.linnrecords.com/lin...loads-testfiles.aspx
test192.flac file and put in to usb and...... msg " Can't play Unsuported File Format"
On https://www.naimaudio.com/updates the is a info "
24bit/192kHz Update | Hardware" Please refer to your Naim retailer for this update. |
My naim must go to service? I updated qute to latest firmware 3.22 (My Qute is with rs232).
There is a hardware upgrade to enable 24/192 compatibility. it is a pay for upgrade. (Unless you specifically purchased your Qute as a Qute 24/192, which was a later option).
Does your Qute have a sticker next to the aerial stating 192
How much money upgrade will be cost?
Tomorrow i will check a sticker but probably there isn't.

Not sure if it's available anymore contact your naim dealer
Rs 232 on rear means 24/96 capability. For a Qute that's plenty ok. If I had an original qute I'd leave 'as is'.
Plus it maybe cheaper to sell a Qute 96 then purchase a used Qute 192
Mine has an rs232 and is a Qute 1 192 version

Did it go in for an upgrade? Apparently Qute2s started at ser. no 342607, my oldest has the miniUSB but no mention of Qute2 on the rear.
Purchased new as a Qute 1 with 192, only around for a short period before the qute 2 was launched
Shows what happens when I give creedence to the words of a Naim dealer!
If memory serves the Qute comes in four different variants
Qute 1 24/96
Qute 1 24/192 (with sticker next to aerial stating 192)
Qute 2 with mini usb but no label to say its a Qute 2
Qute 2 with mini usb and label to say it's a Qute 2
It may not be worth it, any ex dem Qute 2 going for sale near to where you live.
In the Uk a Qute 2 ex dem goes for £995.00 you would probably get £600 - £650 for an original 24/96.
Also is 192 music worth it, I prefer 96 over 192 plus 96 takes up less disk space!
...and a yet to be mentioned version, Qute 2 with mini usb and label to say it's a Qute 2, but no 192 support...which is what I seem to have. Getting the "cannot play file", but it makes up for less than 1% of my collection. I agree with the user who prefers 24/96. It sounds maybe a bit more detailed, but the 24/96 just sounds more like "music" to me...and its NOT worth the extra space or hassel. .02
Hello. In my Qute there isn't a sticker. I have got a another Qute and there is sticker 192.
Qute 96khz has a WiFi module in b/g mode, on 192khz the is a n mode.
Wifi module in 192version has n module and link speed only 72Mb, no more. I test this on Mikrotik RB.
