Rovi - Album Credits data is useless
Posted by: sjbabbey on 20 November 2014
In general terms, the Rovi booklet is a nice feature to have but I find the album credits info really annoying. The credits are all listed in alphabetical order of anyone who might have had even the remotest involvement with the album, contain various duplications and misspellings and often these result in the actual artists being omitted from the main credits pages and relegated to the "All credits" listing.
As an example, for "Quadrophenia" by The Who, there is no mention in the main credits of Keith Moon, Pete Townsend or of "The Who". However there are listings for the Richard Evans twins (Design), the George Jones twins (mastering), Rod Houison and his brother Ron Houison (sound effects). The full credits also include the Andys MacPherson and McPhearson (remixing), Ethan Russell and Ethan A. Russell (Art Direction) and Chris Stainton/Stanton (piano).
OK, rant over. I feel better now.
