Unitilite Problem

Posted by: NeilF on 23 November 2014

I've had my Unitilite for a couple of months and it's been great. Last night I noticed the time on the display was out by an hour, so I adjusted the time offset and it worked perfectly all night. Turned it off when I went to bed and this morning when I turned it on I couldn't get it to do anything. Couldn't play Internet radio, wouldnt connect to my NAS. After a fair bit of rummaging about in the menus it found the  NAS and is now playing. But I've got a message saying it can't connect to the time server and it displays "No Time". Any ideas what has gone wrong? Displaying the time isn't that important, I'm just worried that it's going to get all flaky on me.

It could have been a problem with your internet connection, which is an issue to take up with your ISP. More likely, though, is that your network lost its connection; if it becomes a problem, there are many threads here discussing network configuration, how we get it wrong, and how to do it right.

Internet connection is fine. Unitilite is still misbehaving. Can't get Internet radio, sticks at "tuning". Couldn't find the NAS on the network, although it could see my PC and the NAS was healthy and visible to everything else on the network. Naim app frequently losing connection. Sent music from my NAS using the Synology app and selecting the Naim as the output. Worked perfectly except that it kept repeating the one song, rather than moving on to the next one on the list. Having got it playing that way I went back into the Naim app and it showed the NAS and is playing ok. Confidence restored I then tried Internet radio again. No joy. So tried switching back to uPnP and I can select a track ok but I cant play it. Display says "Stopped press play to start" if I press play it says "connecting" for an instant then goes back to "Stopped..."

Nothing has changed on my network since yesterday when everything was working correctly.

It sounds like a network connection issue to me?

2 minutes after I typed "nothing has changed on my network since yesterday" it came to me! I've got a new Ruark R2 in the bedroom and this morning I changed a setting on it to keep it permanently connected to the network. For a reason I dont understand it used the same IP address as the Naim, despite being bound to another addres in my hubs ARP table.

New IP addresses assigned to Naim and Ruark and all is perfect again!

Static IP addresses are the way to go! I still find that occasionally I have to restart my UnitiLite - maybe once a fortnight, or else iRadio refuses to function - but a quick restart is all that is required, so it's not problem as such...

Had to restart my Unitilite this morning too as iRadio wouldn't function....sorted the problem...
