For Synology users: is it possible to browse based on samplerate?

Posted by: bicela on 29 November 2014

Dear All, I have not found a solution, if exist.

Often I would choose to listen based on grups of album with a certain sample frequency.

Now I put them in folders with sample rate and bit dept information as names.

Is it possible to create a sort of custom property likes gender, artist or so?

Many thanks in advance.

I think you will have to go to a unp server such as MinimServer or Asset for this facility. MinimServer has a special index tag '#AudioData' for sample bit depth, sample rate and bit rate. So you can then browse by eg AudioData / Composer etc or  Composer / AudioData etc.

One day or another I must going to forget the sample rate obsession... And concentrate only on enjoyable music...

That's the dilemma for technical people... More we are going to know how sausages are composed of and then less we are enjoying how are tasting good!

You can do it with Bit Rate.

I have a 'cheat' so I can browse for hi res music -- I put "24-96" etc in the album title.

Could also create a "Hi Res" genre.

Ciao Bart, very good suggestion, we can use search as well if we put 24-96 in the title! Grazie

I use CD, HD or SHD in the title so it helps me distinguish the file quality I'm playing.

Same principle as Bart, slightly different approach

I also use such designations as sometimes I have more than one version of a cd on my server.  Probably 3 versions of DSOTM, Quadrophenia, Tommy, and a few others.

+1 for minimserver as johnG wrote. Why don't you use minimserver for synology. It has the feature of showing you the streaming quality. It is simple. You mustn't change your tagging.  Easy to try.
