iPhone 5s and Internet radio issues with naim uniti 1

Posted by: AKshirsagar on 07 December 2014

hi. My iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s (checked with both models) aren't being recognised by the USB port on the naim uniti 1 (purchased in 2010 but barely used). I am also unable to get the naim uniti to recognise   internet radio despite wi fi working perfectly fine with all other devices in the room. All my music on the iPhone's are in apples lossless format.

I live in mumbai in india and so not near a Naim dealer. Any and all advice on both issues is very welcome.

Many thanks

The HDX didn't get internet radio until 2011 (via a firmware update).  Is the uniti the same?  Also, I believe you need a special cable to use the iPod/iPhone with the uniti (not the regular Apple USB cable).

Early Uniti 1s did need a special cable for connecting iPods etc.  Later ones did not.  I forget when the switch over was but likely you have one that needs the special cable.

If you email Naim support with the serial number they will be able to tell  you definitively.

Have you enabled iRadio via the inputs menu in setup? Have you enabled the front USB input? The latter may not be relevant if it is the very early version that needed the special cable, but it may be all you need to know.

It's a good idea to only enable those inputs you actually use. It will sound better and you will only see the ones you use when using the Uniti via the app.
