Naim UnitiLite - too loud on 1 volume level

Posted by: Draszor on 07 December 2014

This problem has been already mentioned in one of the posts, however I did not find a sollution up there.

Generally, I am very happy with sound quality of my naim (+ Monitor Audio silver 6). The only problem is the sound volume on the lowest level I can set. It is just too loud. Definitelly not background playing.

Changing the " input trim" settings does not help as well.

Is this general problem of this product and I must live with it, or not at all - what should I do then?

Dear All,

I have just returned from my dealer, after comparing my Uniti with the one present in the shop.

The test has been done on the same speakers and cables. Both Naims were connected to power, and he was changing the speaker cables between the devices. We tried CD and USB.

Conclusion - no difference in sound strength between the devices. The dealer device has been playing as "loud" at 1 as mine. on one side it is good to know that my device is ok, on the other... well I would need to get used to the definition of "silent music" according to Naim Unitilite ... I think I can handle it :-)

Hi all,

Despite all dB measures, it is irritating that the powe al level 1 is too loud, the step to one is too big.  Yes. I know, it is subjective, depending off the sensivity of your speakers etc. but why not a more smootless volume range from zero to maximum. We like the good old analog potentiomete 9 with all its disadvantages)

And it is also far from perfect that at level zero the volume level is not zero. You can hear a little volume. Operational solution is to choose another source were no input is active.

Oke, oke. Naim’s philosophy is sound quality, and that they arrange very right, do not misunderstand me. But these small issues as volume, irritating background sound and noise, can be solved easily with the knowledge they have.
