Your 2015 Concerts
Posted by: Richard S on 10 December 2014
I thought I would get the ball rolling. Three so far booked for me:
Echo and the Bunnymen Liverpool Philharmonic 20/02
Steven Wilson Bridgewater Hall, Manchester 14/03
The Charlatans Albert Hall, Manchester 05/03
Ex Hex at Hafenkneipe, Zurich

Pelleas And Melisande WNO Birmingham 13th June
And last but not least Parsifal, in a concert performance at Symphony Hall Birmingham.
I am particularly looking forward to hearing Rachel Nicholls sing Eva in the Mastersingers after hearing her Brunnhilde at Longborough over the past few years, a real star in the making I hope.
She will also be singing her first Isolde at Longborough this summer.
My wife and I are off to hear Nina Stemme & Stephen Gould sing Tristan und Isolde at Covent Garden this evening.
As you may have guessed, I quite like Wagner!
Hawkwind (with Focus as support band) March 6th, Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton
Public Service Broadcasting, May 6th, B'Ham Institute, "Race for Space" Tour
Steve Hackett, Oct 30th, B'Ham Symphony Hall, "Acolyte to Wolflight with a sprinkling of Genesis"
Steve
Aussie Pink Floyd Show 27 February. Brighton Centre.
Booked so far:
- Ocean Colour Scene - Acoustic tour
- Jeffrey Foucault
- Fleetwood Mac - never saw them live at their peak, so this tour (along with the return of Christine McVie) seemed to good to miss. Now, if Peter Green had been making a comeback, that would have been even better - but unfortunately not.
- Christy Moore & Declan Sinnott.
So far I have for 2015:
Khatia Buniatishvili
Yuya Wang
Martha Argerich
Martin Stadfeld
Anne-Sophie Mutter
North Sea Jazz Festival
Only one on the calendar so far:
Mark Knopfler at the Hallenstadion in Zürich.

Reminded by the post of GregW:
I missed Mark Knopfler out of my earlier list.
Paul Heaton & Jacqueline Abbot Castlefields Bowl, Manchester 03/07
Saw them last Friday at the Mcr Apollo and they were superb with a mix of Beautiful South, Housemartins and new material.
Allready booked Ms. Wang with Prokofiev #2 in Munic.
Looking foreward for S. Khachatryan
War on Drugs - 02 Academy Newcastle - February
Joan Armatrading - Sage Gateshead - March
Warpaint - Sage Gateshead - March
War on Drugs - 02 Academy Newcastle - February
Joan Armatrading - Sage Gateshead - March
Warpaint - Sage Gateshead - March
I went to hear The War on Drugs in Zürich about 6 weeks ago and despite a sticky overcrowded venue, they were excellent. Lost in the Dream was one of my favourite albums of 2014.
So far, I've booked:
Future Islands at The Roundhouse - March
Public Service Broadcasting at The Roundhouse - May
Belle & Sebastian at Westminster Central Hall - May
All we have so far are The Who twice (May and October), and The Decemberists in April. Thus far I don't see a lot coming to the States of interest. Much of what I read about here are EU and UK-only tours as of now
The Decemberists in February and Dr John in March, both in Bristol.
Oh, and the Glastonbury Festival again...
Beat me to it by 24 hrs!
Not so much a definite, tickets on the mantlepiece job, but a wishlist, fanciful or otherwise.
For me:
Depeche Mode
Muse
Blackmore's Knight
Polly Paulusma
Chetham's Symphony Orchestra: Butterworth, A Shropshire Lad
So far:
Cara Dillon, Birmingham, March
Orquesta Buena Vista, Birmingham, April
Roberto Fonseca & Fatou Diawara, London, May
If you would have told me 20 years ago that the only gigs I had in the calendar were of the World Music genre and that there were no punk or metal gigs planned, I never would have believed it!
